Titans Volleyball Looks to Rebound from Rough Start

By Daryl Johnson

Staff Writer

With a 1-11 record, this has been a difficult season for the Titans to put points on the board and win games.

What is the problem with the Titan’s volleyball team? This team is showing persistence and perseverance by continuing to compete. However, the roster has undergone massive turnover as most of last year’s team isn’t playing this year. This makes a big difference when playing against other teams who have played together for more than one season.

Students have also quit the volleyball team which puts more responsibility on everyone else. No more than six players are on the team, which is fewer than earlier this year.

The Titans’ last win was a struggle against Caldwell Community College, which was their only win for the season so far.

Win or lose, the Titans still have good things to say. “We have a great team," said Sabrina Johnson, Head Volleyball Coach for the Titans. "A lot of the girls are adjusting to playing in positions on the court that they usually don’t play.”

Seja Cook, a sophomore who has been playing volleyball for 8 years says that one thing the team does well is communicate. Cook has been playing volleyball since 8th grade and loves playing this sport to stay fit and in shape.

The next volleyball game will be held at 6:00pm on October 14th @Guilford Technical Community College. To view Titan’s Volleyball full schedule and results click here
