GTCC's women’s basketball team recently notched its first win of the 2022-2023 season and is looking to add more.

The Titans opened the season with a 56-73 a loss to Wake Tech but then immediately followed that with a 75-41 victory against USC Salkehatchie College.

This year’s team lineup features several new players on the team. Of the twelve players on the roster, seven are listed as freshmen.

One of those first-year students, Bentlee Chockley, is the team's leading scorer. Chockley is averaging 19 points per game, followed by Hali Watkins (16), Summer Thomas, and Le’Asia Matthews (both 14).

Head Coach, Erica Handy teaches the team how to play under pressure. The first game shows that it wasn’t a complete blowout, and in the second game of the season they were better prepared.

The women's basketball team will have to focus all their concentration on working together.

Assistant Coaches Chauncey Harris, Shavon Tates, and Eric Daniels work have been working with these ladies since the summer and believe that we will see a good season from the team this year.

The team's next game is 6:00 pm tonight at Southwest Virginia College.
